Rohit Sharma did the brave thing and opted to toss after winning the toss at Chepauk. Going against the popular tide, MI thought that batting on a slow Chennai track and putting some numbers on the board would give them the advantage.
Things started well for MI. Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma started in a blaze of glory. While de Kock was slow to get going, Rohit Sharma played the role of an aggressor. De Kock eventually got out after scoring 40 off 39 balls with 5 fours. Rohit Sharma got out to Shankar after scoring 32 off 25 balls. His innings included 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan walked in with Mumbai Indians looking to get a going after scoring a big one. However, both of them fell one after another. Kieron Pollard walked in and looked like a man with a lot of intent. Smashing 3 sixes in quick succession, Pollard looked to take MI over the 200 marks. However, he too fell after getting his eye in. The big West Indian scored a quickfire 35 off 22 balls. His innings included 3 sixes and 1 four.
Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya could not seem to get a move on. MI ending with 150 of their full quota off 20 overs. It was a match that Bhuvaneswar Kumar would want to forget. He went for 45 off his 4 overs. Pollard being the principal wrecker in chief. Shankar and Mujeeb ending with 2 wickets each.

SRH started off in the best possible fashion. Warner and Bairstow giving the Hyderabad team the best start they would need. Bairstow took the attack to the MI bowlers. The Englishman smashing Adam Milne and all over the park. Bairstow and Warner looked in complete control and looked like polishing off the runs with ease.
However, MI, like the good team they are, struck back with wickets. Bairstow departed after scoring 43 off 22 balls, smashing 4 sixes and 3 fours. Warner also lost his wicket scoring a well-made 37 with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Mumbai hit back with quick wickets Manish Pandey and Virat Singh. Rahul Chahar doing what he did the last time around against KKR. With Vijay Shankar the last hope for SRH, the team needed to score 31 off the last 24 balls off the innings.
Trent Boult showed just why he is still considered to be one of the best fast bowlers in the world. He knocked off Bhuvaneswar Kumar off the very first ball of the 20th over. He picked up Rashid Khan off the last ball off the 18th over. In the 19th over, Bumrah all but ended SRH’s hope after picking up the wicket of Shankar.
Boult was too hot to handle and Khaleel Ahmed could not get his bat down in time. Boult finishing with three wickets at the end. SRH could only manage to score 137. Mumbai Indians winning at the end by 13 runs.
