The rain-drenched race held in July is still fresh in everyone’s memories. Fans and insiders have widely credited this race, worthy to be noted in the annals of NASCAR history. In fact, the numbers suggest the same as well.
The race is the most streamed race in NBC’s history, a benchmark that is worthy of applause.
The reason behind the popularity of this race lies completely in two distinct factors: the treacherously slick tracks with rain and Shane Van Gisbergen defying expectations to clinch victories.
Both these factors played a major role in making this history one of the most streamed races in recent history.
NASCAR Hampering Local Lifestyle
Chicago was not at all in a nice mood and decided to throw everything possible at the drivers. Unfamiliar terrain, slick tracks, and everything else in between.
Subsequently, the citizens of Chicago faced another issue in the form of traffic congestion caused by NASCAR and its race.
In fact, officials have claimed that they are looking into the matter and have assured fans that they will look into these matters ASAP.
Even though NASCAR’s Chicago event in July brought in around $8.3 million to the state. But the locals seemed to have been unhappy with the event and the fanfare that followed.
Along with the race, the streets of Chicago were also riddled with activities, concerts, merchandise stalls, etc. This made life more inconvenient for the residents, who complained that the fanfare even started invading personal space at times.
This posed a serious threat to NASCAR and its reputation. Therefore, insiders have decided that the 2024 event will take place in early July and in a more streamlined fashion so that the local population does not bear the brunt.
