The gendered difference is something no sport is immune to. A recent row by a bodybuilding coach is suggestive that it has made its way into Bodybuilding as well. Male and female bodies gain muscle differently. As a result, they have to put in different amounts of work. However, according to one IFBB Pro Coach, Greg Doucette, things are not what it seems.
Doucette has always been a loose cannon. This is not the first time Doucette said something that is a little out of the line. According to Doucette, females do not gain muscles like men because they do not put in as much effort as a man.
What Was The Need For It?
Douchette. Sorry, Doucette has built his persona as somebody who breaks the ‘well-known’ facts about bodybuilding. And this garnered him a lot of fame and attention. This time, he took to social media to say something that was absurd to say the least. According to Doucette, “I’ve studied this in detail, women, on average, put less effort in sports, powerlifting, weightlifting, basketball, every sport, you name it, men, on average, try harder than girls.”
Citing his ‘experience,’ he has concluded that females do not put in as much work as men. As a result, they appear to have more nimble and sleek muscle mass. Apart from that, he also once said some questionable things about obesity. He said, “The average person is overweight, so what do people do? Oh, you look so beautiful, more of you to love. You’re 400 pounds, that’s fantastic. Which is not.” Hence, he is a man who goes the mile to irk people and says things just for the heck of it.
While his statements regarding obesity are still palatable, his statements regarding females not putting in enough work are questionable and asinine. It seems some people did not get the memo that this is the 21st Century we are living in.
