In a surprising turn of events, Lionel Messia was offered a place in formally in Saudi Arabia
soccer club, Al-Hilal, in the upcoming season, according to a source close to the 35-year-old football player who mentioned the same to Reuters last Thursday.
The source further added that this is the only offer that Messi received. The Argentinian media also mentioned that Al-Hilal’s offer is more than 400 million USD annually. No media channel was able to request Al-Hilal for comments on this interesting development.

Previously, the World Cup-winning Argentinian captain became popular in the media for his possible move to Barcelona, his boyhood club – and that wasn’t all. Inter Miami, a major league football club in the United States, was also touted as a probable destination for the player.
Interestingly, Paris St Germain, Messi’s current club, suspended him at the week’s beginning after visiting Saudi Arabia – according to L’Equipe, a French sports daily’s report on Tuesday, the trip to Saudi Arabia was unauthorized.
L’Equipe also added that PSG didn’t want to renew Messi’s contract for the third season.
Also To Be Considered:
Did you know that the tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia is none other than Lionel Messi?
Plus, Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi’s long-time rival, also signed for another Saudi Arabia club last December.
Ronaldo’s deal with the Al-Nassr club was reported to be somewhere in and around 220 million USD every year.
Another source close to the 35-year-old soccer player revealed to Reuters that Messi’s suspension took place after the player informed PSG that he wasn’t going to stay back in Paris after the season, considering the club actually lacked an agenda or a project.
The source also added that the PSG club did not schedule any training on this Monday. The decision to schedule the training on Monday was made after Messi had already reached Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, a source close to the PSG club denied the allegation and told Reuters that Lionel Messi visited Saudi Arabia without asking the French soccer club for permission, in spite of knowing that training was already taking place on Monday.
The same source refused to comment on whether or not the soccer start informed PSG about his intentions of leaving the club once the season ended.
