Now that the 2023 season is done for the Mets, let us take a look back at the year that zoomed past us.
After taking a look at the offense, defense, pitching, and coaching staff, we will be able to assess what actually happened this season and what is in store for the next season. Today’s athlete of discussion is pitcher Reed Garret.
As of now, Reed has a total of around 42 appearances across Major and Minor league baseball leagues.
As a result, Garret is popularly lauded as one of the finest players of the series. Across 42 appearances, Reed has managed to keep a healthy average.
Reed Garret’s 2023 Season
Even though Garret started the 2023 season with the Baltimore Orioles, as fate would have it, he quickly shifted strides to be a part of the Mets roster. The Mets were able to acquire Garret off waivers. Then, about a week later, they sent him to the AAA Syracuse.
There, he rigorously pitched for about a month before the David Robertson trade took place.
During the time that Garret spent in Syracuse AAA, the Mets were mostly using him for mop-up situations. In those situations, he was able to get the team out of tricky situations.
Overall, Garret made six appearances in a month, after which he was again sent back to the AAA. Coach mostly used him as a multi-inning reliever, and he did pretty well at this task.
In general, Reed Garret has mostly been an above-average performer for the Mets, but his final role as a multi-inning option has left fans hopeful for a better future.
