For those of you who are oblivious, the NBA vs Noah Lyles controversy is still going strong. A few weeks ago in Budapest, Noah Lyles got sucked into a controversy because of his fiery statements against NBA champions. Lyles, in an interview, openly called out the NBA for calling their champions the ‘world champions’ without pitting them against global talents.
This statement was not at all received nicely by fans as well as athletes. Lyles’ social media was flooded with comments from trolls who were just expressing their discontent over Noah’s statement. Even Canadian music sensation Drake took part in the trolling bandwagon. Drake took a low blow when he said that the league does not even recognize Lyles anymore.
This, however, did not sit well with the track and field star, and he was seen retaliating in an interview. Lyles was not pulling his punches when he said, “Drake, what are you doing here? Go back home.” Noah further elaborated his stance and said, “This is an NBA conversation. But I couldn’t go on TikTok for more than three seconds because it would just be like, me. And I’m like, Can I see something else? I don’t want to see me. I go to Twitter to see other things.”
The Best Comeback Ever
Even though Lyles is the ‘Public Enemy No.1’ for NBA fans, he is still one of the finest talents the USA has to offer in track and field. Budapest marked Lyles’ third victory as the world champion in a row. Subsequently, Lyles eyed the Zurich stage of the Diamond League and once again came through in 200 meters in 19,80 seconds. Thus shitting down naysayers left and right.
Now with the final stage of the Diamond League approaching, Lyles is again confident that he will come through, and it shows in his recent post on his X handle. In a minimalistic manner, Lyles broke the news by saying, “I hope y’all ready for fireworks at @nikepreclassic.”
