In the recent pandemic crisis where too many players from too many states are testing positive, the BCCI is left with no choice but to suspend the IPL temporarily. According to the BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, they are undergoing a loss of 2500 crore in this tournament canceling process.
Let’s Take A Flashback Tour To The UAE Matches
The first match of the Dream 11 IPL 2020 was held in the United Arab Emirates. However, the Indian Premier League Governing Council decided that they took on 2nd August 2020. According to their decisions, the matches were played in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. It started on 19th September.
The IPL board took this decision due to the prevailing Covid19 cases in India. And, as per the UAE tournament schedule, the finals of IPL were held on 10th November 2020.
Mumbai Indians, yet another time, retained the title by defeating the Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets. It was their 5th-time victory in the IPL tournament and their 1st-time win on international grounds.
The Current Updates
The BCCI has again decided to hold the remaining matches of the IPL 2021 in UAE. The games will most likely be held from September to October this year. Thirty-one games are remaining according to the current BCCI updates. According to sources, the first game will start on 19th September after the resumption, and the finals will be held on 15th October.
The recent meetings between the Emirates Cricket Board and the BCCI have gone well. And, we at least know that the remaining IPL matches will be indeed be held in UAE. But, cricket fans are also wondering whether the foreign players will be available for the remaining matches or not. But, the BCCI officials said they are expecting to give us positive news in this regard.
According to one BCCI official:
“The discussions have started and we are keeping fingers crossed that the foreign players will be mostly available.”
Yes, we have confirmed that the BCCI is arranging meetings with the England and Wales Cricket Board to reduce the 9-day gap between the 2nd and 3rd match of the five-match test series. If they finalize this decision, the foreign players would most likely be available for the remaining IPL matches.

But, the franchise official also said that they have not yet heard anything confirmed about the arrival of the foreign players on teams. So, if they do miss the foreign players, they will have to rethink the team status. So as for now, they are simply keeping their fingers crossed and waiting for good news.
