15th November was a day to remember for every cricketing fan out there. Not only did the boys in blue win against New Zealand, but one player managed to break the record of the Cricketing God himself. Let’s look at what happened in the India vs New Zealand match.
Virat Koli has proven to be one of the finest cricketers of the current generation and just managed to break the record of his role model, Sachin Tendulkar. Virat Kohli just managed to secure his 50th ODI century. This left fans reeling and berserk.
Athos
Kohli managed to surpass his role model and long-time colleague, Sachin Tendulkar, by scoring 117 runs from 107 balls. Kohli single-handedly managed to contribute 117 runs to the overall total of 397. This helped Team India to breeze past the Boys in black. Kohli also managed to score the most amount of runs in a single tournament (711). However, yesterday was not all about Virat Kohli. There were two other players who played an equally important role.
Porthos
The second batsman who must be applauded for his amazing batting prowess is none other than Shreyas Iyer. Iyer managed to secure 105 runs with just seventy deliveries. This was one of the highest run rates recorded in a Cricket World Cup knockout game.
Aramis
What Kohli did for the batting side, Shami managed to do that for the bowling side. Shami managed to get seven wickets from the Kiwi’s side. The bowling side managed to stop the Kiwis in track at the 48.5 over with just 327 runs on the board. Ironically enough, Shami fittingly managed to take the final wicket. A truly dramatic turn of events.
