Due to an injury sustained during training, Jon Jones is apparently out of the UFC 295. Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic was supposed to be one of the biggest matchups of strength, speed, and agility of two absolutely gifted fighters.
Just recently, Jones moved up the food chain to become a heavyweight and face Cyril Gane at UFC 285. The fight ended rather quickly, as Jones managed to make Gane Submit in the very first round.
Therefore, fans were eager to see Jones properly taking on somebody like Miocic, a former two-time heavyweight champion. But the news of the injury left fans distraught and disappointed.
UFC president Dana White broke the news of the injury and the subsequent flight cancellation to the fans. White also confirmed that an interim title fight will replace the Jones vs Miocic fight.
Still, Jones went out of his way to address his fandom by issuing an official statement via a video posted on his social media. The first thing that Jones did was update his fans about the injury that he sustained while practicing. Secondly, he assured fans that they must not write off the fight completely and that there is still some hope.
The Promise Of Returning
In a video shared by the fighter, Jones clearly said, ‘I guess it will be Stipe and I at a later date, and that’s my plan. So, it’ll be surgery and physical therapy for me for the next several months. But I’m committed.”
While sharing the news and talking to his fans, Jones also seemed to be absolutely distraught and disappointed about the cancellation of the fight.
Rumors suggest that a Tom Aspinall vs Sergei Pavlovic fight will replace the Jones-Miocic fight. Therefore, fans will not go back empty-handed. White, being the president, ensured that.
