Does Tiger Woods have it in him to win his 16th Major title? If he does manage to achieve this monumental task, it will take him one step closer to achieving the status of his childhood idol and all-time great, Jack Nicklaus. Woods, being Woods, not only wants to reach Jack’s records, but he wants to surpass them.
Woods might be one of the greatest golfers to grace the greens, but haters and critics believe that the feat that Woods is trying to achieve is still unachievable. However, Fred Couples, Woods’s friend and mentor, thinks that it is actually possible.
According to Couples, if Woods manages to play the game realistically once a month, he can break the record. Couples also believe that he is one of the most sought-after players to win the Majors. But what could be the reason that led Couples to make such a statement? Was it because he liked Woods, or was the reason something more? However, when asked about such tall claims, he did give a credible answer.
When the former World No 1 was interviewed by Sirius XM’s PGA Tour podcast and asked about his claim, he replied, saying, “He is fresh.” The 64-year-old sounded optimistic when he made that statement, and it was evident on his face. The veteran also said that the surgery made Woods confident about his body and that he can make a world of difference on this tour.
