El Cucuy is back and has new plans for his return to UFC. Just days before his fight with Bobby Green in the UFC 291, Tony Ferguson met with the media and allay his rumors about retirement.
The veteran dismissed the retirement rumors and revealed his extensive plans for the future. However, after five consecutive losses, these can come off as mere words.
Till now, Ferguson had pretty good fight statistics. Ferguson has fought 34 fights, out of which he won 26. Therefore, this former lightweight champ is essentially a force to reckon with.
However, after suffering consecutive losses in the last five matches, things might seem bleak for our very own El Cucuy.
Still, Ferguson is determined and announces that he is here to stay. He approaches the upcoming match with positive enthusiasm and has said, “I want to be real with you guys. It’s always been cool and I feel, at this point in time in my life, I’m just barely hitting my prime.”
El Cucuy On Rumors Of Retirement:
While addressing the rumors of retirement, he further added, “They could propose, they could say, ‘Oh, Tony’s going whatever, he’s going to retire’. No, motherf**ers. F** you…I am gonna be done when I want to be done…Five fights and a title, baby!”
Therefore, El Cucuy is one tough nut to crack, so it seems. But fans have different ideas about Tony and his performance.
One fan tweeted, “Tony doesn’t seem to understand that the fans wanting him to retire are saying it because they care about the man’s health.” Another one said, “Bobby please make it quick and painless.”
Therefore, fans seemed concerned about this man’s health and form. Not only fans but, according to several sports daily, Bobby Green is supposedly faster and sharper and can easily take down El Cucuy.
