Russell Scoring A Quickfire 45 To Make KKR Reach A Total Of 154 In 20 Overs
KKR managed to scrape through in their last match and get back to winning ways. When they faced off against a bruised DC, they were going up against a team with a lot of self-belief. At the Narendra Modi Stadium, DC won the toss and chose to field first.
Nitish Rana and Shubhman Gill have been dependable in parts throughout the tournament. While Gill got going, Rana didn’t. Both the KKR openers did not look like they had any intention of going after the DC bowling. To be frank, Avesh Khan and Rabada were economical and bowled tight lines.
While Rana got out for 15, Gill scored a well-made 43 for 38 runs. The rest of the KKR batting line-up never looked like they would get going. Tripathi got out for a very unlike inning of 19 runs off 17 runs. What hurts KKR the most was the quick wickets of Morgan and Narine. Both of them got out for zero in the same Lalit Yadav over.
It was the birthday boy Andre Russell who set the stage on fire with a quickfire 45 off just 27 balls. Rabada’s last over went for 2 sixes and 1 four. KKR just managing to score just 154 runs off 20 overs.
Dhawan And Shaw Lay The Perfect Foundation For Delhi Capitals In The Chase
When Shaw gets going, he reminds us of a young and energetic Sehwag. The stroke play, confidence, arrogance all reminding of a Sehwag in his prime. The stroke maker caressing the KKR bowling to all corners of the stadium. Dhawan playing a strong supporting role to Shaw in the process.
Shaw was at his dangerous best, smashing 82 runs in just 41 balls with 11 fours and 3 big sixes. He ultimately fell to Pat Cummins just like Dhawan did after scoring 46 runs. Rishabh Pant walked in and tried to finish it off for DC in grand fashion. Bit he too fell to a Pat Cummins delivery.
A morale-boosting win for @DelhiCapitals as they outplay #KKR to register a big 7-wicket win and they do so with 21 balls to spare. KKR could never recover after the early onslaught from @PrithviShaw. https://t.co/GDR4bTRtlQ #DCvKKR #VIVOIPL pic.twitter.com/fSBxxVkUBD

Pant scoring 2 fours and 1 six. DC chased down the KKR total of 154 with ease within the 17 over the mark. DC emerging victorious in a one-sided chase.
KKR’s young and inexperienced bowling line-up was thoroughly exposed. Shivam Mavi was carted by Shaw for 25 runs and did not get another over. Pat Cummins was the only saving grace for the KKR bowling line-up picking up 3 wickets for 24 runs.
KKR’s standard in this VIVO IPL 2021, is well off the top teams like DC, RCB, and CSK. If they do not get their act together, they do not stand a chance of making the Play-Offs in this edition.
