A game’s greatness greatly depends on the players playing it. And if a crucial player ends up injured.
This can change the very course of the game. Something very similar happened in the WNBA Finals, as the star guard of the Aces, Chelsea Gray, dealt with an injury. And this greatly affected the road to the finals for the Aces.
The Change Of Pace
The momentum that the Aces had was great. With two major victories in their kitty, the Aces already took charge of the Final Five Series.
But the recent injury derailed that and put the team in a tough spot. The Aces are just one game away from winning the series. But the recent injuries really can be the wrench in the wheelwork.
Vegas Aces was in a row to win the Series with an amazing stat. However, they had a difficult time dealing with the injury of one of their key assets, Chelsea Gray.
As a result, New York Liberty took advantage of this opportunity and managed to end the game with an 87-73 scoreboard. This greatly disappointed fans, as they imagined the outcome to be different.
Just when things were looking great for the Aces, Gray went down after a clash with Breanna Stewart. The score was then 67-61. After the clash, Gray was limping and hobbling around the court.
And it wasn’t until Becky Hammon realized what had happened. Upon inquisition from Hammon, Gray replied, ‘My ankle’s popped’ as can be seen from the movement of her mouth.
Eventually, Gray had to hop her way back to the locker room. This greatly affected the overall momentum of the match, and in the end, the Aces lost a crucial match that held significant importance in the grand scheme of things.
