On-court rivalries are not something that is easily forgotten. And the current example is something that is the epitome of on-court rivalries. The recent passing of Bob Knight has sparked an age-old rival.
The late basketball coach was at an all-time loggerhead situation with one of his colleagues. The rivalry was so iconic that it shaped the careers of Bob Knight and his rival, Coach K or Mike Krzyzewski, greatly.
Even though the rivalry continued till the very end, the Ex-assistant of Coach K decided to pour out his heart, reminiscing a core memory. This left fans wanting more. Knight’s condition had been deteriorating since April this year.
He was hospitalized, and treatment was provided. But the sand of time reached its final grain on Wednesday. Fans and family gathered around to mourn, and among the crowd was Jay Bilas, ex-assistant of Coach Mike Krzyzewski.

When given a platform to speak, Bilas Opened up about his memories of Knight from ESPN’s Get Up. Bilas recalled Knight leading his team to victories.
In Bilas’ words, “The reverence was something that was palpable. A compliment from Knight lifted you up to a level you didn’t think you could reach. And then criticism from him was a weight on your shoulders was very very heavy.”
This shows that Bilas shared an amazing bond with the former Hall-Of-Famers. Bilas even shared an essay encompassing his feelings for Knight. Bilas is one of the few coaches who learned from the great.
Several other assistant coaches and managers who learned under Bob Knight went on to become successful, and the list includes Steve Alford, Murry Bartow, Dan Dakich, Bob Donewald, Marty Simmons, Jim Crews, and Chris Beard.
And Bilas was speaking for everyone when he said that Bob Knight was a fierce player and leader with goals that were bigger than himself.
