Shikhar Dhawan is the famous Indian opener whose main focus must be on the ICC World T20 that is supposed to start from next month in Oman. But, the sportsman has recently been through a divorce with his 8 years of life partner, Ayesha Mukherjee.

Despite his impeccable cricketing ability, another thing that makes Shikhar Dhawan really popular is his love for his wife, Ayesha Mukherjee. The Gabbar of Indian cricket found love on the internet and fell for this Bengali beauty.
Both Ayesha and Shikhar are sports fanatics, and they both love tattoos immensely. Ayesha was first married to an Australian businessman, and they have two children together. But, soon after the birth of their second children, problems started creeping up in their relationship, which ended their marital life.

After the divorce, Ayesha and Shikar Dhawan became Facebook buddies, and with their long chats, they soon discovered their feelings for one another. You may be surprised to know that Jatt-Jee first confessed his feelings towards Ayesha to their mutual friend, Harbhajan Singh. Then, Bhajji told him about Ayesha’s marital status.
Despite being 10 years older than Shikhar, their love story soon took a beautiful turn. Although it was difficult to convince the groom’s father for the wedding, his mother always supported him. As a result, the couple finally tied the knot in 2012 and soon gave birth to a son.
The Couple Hit Rock Bottom
After 8 years of marriage and staying beside one another, the perfect couple parted ways. According to sources, things have not been going well for the couple for quite some years now, and it looks like those troubles have taken their toll. Ayesha Mukherjee broke the divorce news on her Instagram handle on 6th September 2021. Since we got the confirmation from Ayesha herself, there’s no reason not to believe it anymore.
It seems that the couple ended their marriage on a sour note because none of them follow each other on social media anymore. Shikhar also does not bother to post any pictures of Ayesha on his Insta handle, adding more spark to the fire.
Ayesha said that she thought of divorce as a dirty word until she did it twice. She feels more powerful now because she gave the word ‘Divorce’ a new meaning. She posted on her Instagram:
“Well, once I went through the necessary actions and emotions of what had happened, I was able to sit with myself and see that I was fine. I was actually doing great, even noticed my fear had totally disappeared.”
What We Think
We are indeed sad that the couple who were couple goals for millennials have parted ways. But, we are also happy that this harsh decision does not stop each individual from shining in their new life. We have already seen that Ayesha is satisfied with doing her own thing after the divorce. We hope that Shikhar will also do great and secure a place in the T20 World Cup.
