Antoine Griezmann had shocked the football world when he decided to quit Barcelona and rejoin Atletico Madrid. He was playing with Atletico for five seasons constantly before he decided to move to Barcelona. But, he has changed his decision again, and we are curious to know why.
The Unexpected Comeback Of Griezmann-Why Did He Do It?
This summer, we have seen many footballers swapping clubs, and due to the financial crisis of Barcelona, many players are leaving the club. So, of course, there was no bigger surprise when Messi left the club and joined the Paris Saint-Germain.
However, it looks like Antoine Greizmann is also following the same path. He stayed with Atletico Madrid for five seasons, and then he left the club to join Barcelona. But, he is ready to wear the red-striped journey again, shocking for his fans.

Antoinne had scored 35 goals in 105 games when he played under Barcelona, but he could never come out from the shadow of Messi. So, why did he decide to leave now when Messi had already quit the club?
It’s probably because Barcelona has been trying to cut costs for quite some time now. They are trying to cut down players’ salaries, and they also have a permanent transfer clause in the contract. So, Antoinne decided to join his old club and play with the Rojblancos again to defend their crown.
Barcelona Is Selling Players
Yes, you heard us right. Barcelona had swapped João Felix with Luuk de Jong on a season’s loan where the permanent transfer option is mentioned. Now, some players may agree to this situation, but Griezmann already spent five seasons with Atletico. So, he decided it was better to go back to his old mates than participating in these unfortunate events.
It looks like Barcelona has been quite busy for some time. They have sold the right-back, Emerson Royal, to Tottenham for a five-year deal. This deal has cost the club only €25 million. He had played two seasons with the Real Betis and also played for Brazil in Copa America. But, if they would have wanted to retain the old players, it would have been a lot more expensive.
The club has further sold Ilaix Moriba for €16 million to RP Leipzig. Moriba is a fresh graduate from Barcelona Academy, wanted to extend his contract with the club. However, it got expired in June, and the midfielder does not play for Barca anymore.
Final Words
Although Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets agree to the salary reduction scheme of Barca, not many players will agree to it. So, we understand the relevance of Griezmann’s decision. We just wish him all the very best and hope he makes the Rojblancos proud once again.
