FSU’s snubbing from the playoffs has been grabbing some major headlines in the sports community. This was a major heartbreak moment for all the players who were looking forward to the upcoming season. It took a look of blood, sweat, and tears to get prepared. This is the first ever instance where a team lost its playoff spots even after winning all of their regular games.
What does it say about the future of the college football team? Even after winning all the regular games, you can still be denied a spot in the playoffs. The reason provided by the organization was certainly not a logical one, to say the least. In fact, fans claim that this is a polarizing decision that has no rhyme or reason behind it.
What Was The Reason For Dismissal?
When things got heated, CFP released a statement saying that the reason for FSU’s dismissal was Due to Jordan Travis’s injury. But one man’s injury should not dictate the fate of other people involved. Now, CFB insider Bruce Feldman sat down with Rich Eisen and added a newer angle to the whole deal.
During a recent episode of the famous Rich Eisen Show, Feldman provided a new angle to the whole discussion. Feldman elaborated, “But the committee couldn’t fathom the idea of not having an SEC champ in there, even with one loss. And, obviously the SEC has been the most dominant conference in college football for the last two decades. This has not been a great year for the SEC though. But the committee just couldn’t bear the thought of no SEC team and ultimately they screwed the Florida State.” Even though the statement does not do anything to allay the rage that fans have been feeling, it does provide us with some sort of clarity.
