There are several unexpected lackluster records and performances in this season of College Football. Some of them include Deion ‘Coach Prime’ Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. However, these former two are not the only ones with lackluster performance and records. Even though Vanderbilt Commodores secured a 4-8 record, somehow, they managed to put up a worse play this season. Apparently, the Vanderbilts just won two games out of their 12 games.
Such an unimpressive record led Vanderbilt’s head coach, Clark Lea, to make some changes to the program’s roster. Vanderbilt has clearly proven itself to be one of the worst-performing college football programs this season. Currently, the team holds a ranking of 7 in the SEC East. However, things were not that bad for the Commodores at the beginning of the season. Commodores began the season with two back-to-back wins. However, things quickly changed, and starting from Week 3, the team started a humiliating losing streak with 10 games back-to-back.
Scapegoats
Such a monumental failure certainly shook things up for the Commodores. The head coach, Clark Lea, fired two coaches. The recent one is the offensive coordinator Joey Lynch. Lynch was originally hired as a quarterbacks coach just before the 2021 season. The second change that he is looking to make is to replace Nick Howell as the team’s defensive coordinator and demote Howell to the position of Assistant Coach.
When Lea was questioned about this change, he replied, “We had a season where our results and performance fell short of our expectations. When that is the case, change is necessary. My background as a defensive coordinator will allow me to best serve our team by taking on that responsibility.” Therefore, Lea is on a quest for vengeance to bring results in the next season.
