The Denver Nuggets are just one step away from winning their first NBA championship.
Even though Nikola Jokic was fighting a foul problem and with an ankle injury, they beat the Miami Heat and took a win of 108-95 in Game 4 and took a lead of 3-1 in the series for the NBA finals. They will try to settle the game at home on Monday (8:30 p.m.) in Game 5.
Jokic, in the initial quarter, stepped on Max Strus’ foot and twisted his ankle. He also lost time in the fourth quarter after receiving five fouls.
Even after all the hardships, he delivered the best that was expected of him at this point in the game. He posted 12 rebounds, 23 points, three blocks, three steals, and four assists and made a very convincing case for Finals MVP.
It Kind Of Went Down Like This…
Jokic made history by becoming the first player to post 150-plus assists and 250-plus rebounds in a postseason. It is also a point to note that he is averaging 30.1 points in these playoffs per game.
Aaron Gordon is leading the Nuggets and looking brilliant with 27 points along with six assists and seven rebounds. He accompanied Jokic for 37 minutes and played with Jokic in the game for the sweetest basket.
It seemed like they had made up for the Game 3 loss, but the Nuggets fought hard in the third quarter, took every single shot, and made a double-digit lead. Jokic briefly left the game because of his ankle injury in the first quarter but came back with the most magical performance after that.
Miami got a good chance to steal back the lead when Jokic was benched in the fourth quarter for a questionable foul, which was his fifth foul of the night. Denver was leading with 10 points at that time.
The Kaseya Centre crowd cheered as they knew they had an opportunity to lead. But then the Nuggets got back up to the lead with nine points by the time Jokic got back to the court after 5:15 on the bench.
Bruce Brown made a huge difference by scoring 11 points out of his 21 in the fourth quarter.
