Indian athletes are performing better than ever for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. They have added 15 more medals collectively.
With 5 gold medals by Sharath Kamal & Sreeja Akula (TT Mixed Doubles), Nikhat Zareen (Boxing), and Eldhose Paul (Men’s Triple Jump). Amit Panghal (Boxing), Nitu Ghanghas (Boxing).
These medals brought India to a total of 18 gold, with 15 silver and also 22 bronze, a total of 55 medals.
Indian athletes have created history by winning gold and silver in Men’s Triple Jump. Eldhose Paul is the first Indian to win gold in this event with a 17.03 meters jump. And Abdulla Aboobecker came in second to win silver.
21-year-old Boxer Nitu Ghanghas bags the first ever gold medal in Boxing for India in CWG 2022. She is the second Indian boxer after Mary Kom.
Age is just a number, again proved by TT legend Achanta Sharath Kamal, who won the gold medal in mixed doubles teaming with Sreeja Akula.
India also won 4 silver medals by Sagar Ahlawat (Boxing), Sharath Kamal & Sathiyan G. (TT Medal’s double), Indian women’s cricket team.
And coming in third, India won 6 bronze medals by Gayatri Gopichand & Treesa Jolly (Badminton, Women’s Doubles), Women’s hockey team. Kidambi Srikanth (Men’s Singles Badmington), Saurav Ghosal & Dipika Pallikal (Mixed Doubles Squash), Sandeep Kumar (Men’s 10,000m Race Walk), and Annu Rani (Women’s Javelin Throw).
Despite all these achievements, more is yet to come as PV Sindhu & Lakshya Sen reach the finals of their respective events. Chirag Shetty and Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy made it to Men’s doubles final.
Even TT legend Sharath Kamal is in the Single finals and will be competing for gold.
Indian athletes are showing great skills and effort and giving their 100 percent to the Commonwealth games 2022.
