Sudhir from India has won gold in the category of para-powerlifting. He finished as the top athlete in the men’s heavy lifting category. On August 5, Friday, Sudhir bagged his gold medal by lifting a massive 212 kg setting a record. India has recently won six gold medals.
Sudhir’s win in the category of para-powerlifting is a huge achievement for the country as it brings the tally of India’s gold medals to six. He is the Bronze Medallist in Asia Para Games 2018. He lifted 208 kgs on his first attempt. However, this was nothing compared to this second attempt.
In this second attempt, he lifted a massive 212 kgs and gathered a total of 134.5 points. This not only gained him the first position but also broke the record in the category. Unfortunately, while he attempted to lift 217 kgs in his third lift, he was unsuccessful.

Even though he did not manage to be successful in his third attempt, Sudhir’s second attempt was enough to secure his gold medal. He defeated Ikechukwu Obichukwu of Nigeria, who had scored 133.6 points.
India now has a total of 20 medals so far in the Commonwealth Games of 2022. People from all over the country have started pouring heartfelt messages and praising Sudhir for his win.
Sudhir works as a Senior Coach in Weightlifting for the Government in his hometown in Haryana.
