Russian tennis legend Maria Sharapova has been one of the most celebrated athletes out there. Even the people who have no idea about tennis will recognize Sharapova immediately. Still, she is nervous to hold the racquet again. And her nervousness is two-parter.
Firstly, it has been a while since Sharapova took part in any competitive sports. As a result, the former World No.1 is jittery about taking part in the second season of the Pickleball Slam. Secondly, her opponents are no joke as well. Sharapova will be pairing up with John McEnroe to face the likes of Steffi Graff and Andre Agassi.
Age Is Just A Number
At this age, it is not easy to break into a new sport. And that could be another reason why Sharapova is feeling anxious to go all in. This season would be two years since Sharapova will be seen on the court. Howevevr, the long pause is making Sharapova question her capability to make waves.
The pickleball slam will take place on the 4th of February. And Sharapova is clearly anxious about her coming back. In a recent interview, she said, “Yeah I am slightly anxious about the whole thing, I mean this is I feel like I am rookie going into something I have never experienced before, which is like sometimes good because the feelings will come out its like I don’t have any experience to back on but I am also competitive and I wanna win but I know that perhaps other might be better than I am in this particular sport so we’ll see time will tell.”
Therefore, tennis fans will eagerly wait for February 4 to see Maria Sharapova working her magic. Keep following us for more sports-related content and stories.
