Indian cricketer and batsman Shubhman Gill has become the youngest player to score a massive 208, a brilliant double century, in cricket history. On Wednesday, 18 January, the cricketer scored a brilliant run against New Zealand. Gill has now joined the elite group as the fifth Indian player to score a double hundred in One Day International Cricket (ODI).
With just 145 balls, in the first ODI match between India and New Zealand held at Hyderabad, he scored a run of 200. The right-handed batsman continued to perform with enigma even after India had lost two wickets of the most brilliant players, Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan.
Gill was playing consistently yet at an amazingly accelerated pace. According to the ICC, the opener went from 50 runs to 100 runs in 35 deliveries. He then reached 100 to 150 runs with another 35 deliveries. However, with his “final flurry,” he maxed up and went from 150 to 200 with just 23 balls. He scored his splendid 200 with “three consecutive sixes.”
He has now become the fastest Indian cricketer to score a 1000 runs in ODI, surpassing giants like Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. Gill has now become the fifth Indian cricketer to score a double century. The feat was first achieved by Sachin Tendulkar (2010), followed by Virendra Sehwag (2011), Rohit Sharma (2014), and, very recently, Ishan Kishan (2022).
