Manchester City honors Vincent Kompany and David Silva outside the Etihad Stadium by unveiling their statues. The event took place on Saturday. It was just before the match with Arsenal, and we must admit a way to start the game!!!
The Greatest Players In The Club’s History
Silva was a part of the Etihad for a decade, and Kompany played 11 years there. With their best of the best efforts, they transformed Manchester City, one of the best football clubs in England.
David Silva is a Spanish footballer, and at present, he is a footballer at the La Liga club Real Sociedad. But, before joining this club in 2020, he played almost 400 matches in Manchester City. From 2010 to 2020, he has taken the club to great heights and is considered one of the greatest players of the club’s history.
We saw Silva and Kompany earn four league titles together in Manchester City’s name. The consecutive wins n 2011-12, and 2013-14 sessions, and again in 2017-18, and 2018-19 sessions were genuinely commendable.
Vincent Kompany is a Belgian footballer who became a part of Manchester City in 2006. He was only 20-years old back at that time. But, he has gradually evolved his football skills, and in 2011-12 he got the responsibility of leading the club. From that year, he became an integral member of the football club.
Under his leadership, we saw the club win the Premier League that year too. It was the first league title in Manchester City’s name after 44 years of struggle. We saw the legend departing from the club after 11 years in 2019.
Kompany said:
“I go back to the very beginning when I signed for City and we didn’t talk about statues at the time.”
Final Words
As the statues were unveiled, it was an actual moment of honor for both the football stars. The club did its best to honor their contribution in seems. As the club considers Silva and Kompany as football icons, the duo looks greatly happy. And, we are pleased for them.
